ALL students have an email account, VIVA account, and Blackboard account. To access these accounts, you will need a Username and Password.

I. Finding your Username and Password.

1. Begin at the VHCC homepage – www.vhcc.edu

2. Click on Students (upper left corner)

3. Click on Find My Username

4. Enter your Last name, First name, Social Security number and Date of Birth

5. Press Search

6. Your email address, VIVA and Blackboard Username will be displayed.
Make a note. Either print the page or write them down.

7. Your password will be your Date of Birth (mmddyy)

Note: You should change your password. See instructions below.

II. Accessing and Using Student Email.

1. Begin at the VHCC homepage – www.vhcc.edu

2. Click on Student Email (Right side)

3. Enter your username, tab forward twice, enter your password

4. Click “Login”

5. When you are finished reading and/or composing email, always logoff.

III. Accessing a Course Using Blackboard.

1. Begin at the VHCC homepage – www.vhcc.edu

2. Click on Blackboard (right side)

3. Click “Login”

4. Enter your username, tab forward

5. Enter your Password (Date of Birth as mmddyy)

6. Select your course under “My Courses”

7. When you are finished, always logoff.

IV. Accessing VIVA – The Virtual Library of Virginia
1. Visit www.vhcc.edu/library

2. Visit the VHCC library.

Remember that a student's birth date is the default password for all student accounts.

Changing your password to something else you will reduce the chance that someone who knows your birth date from getting into your account.
