This page contains a list of all lab kit items packaged for Summer 2006.  Most kits were packed with all the listed items, but there were some kits that lacked certain items.  Damage during shipping is not common but does occur.  You should check your kit to be sure everything is there and that nothing has been damaged.

If any of these items is missing or damaged please send the instructor your mailing address and specify which items need to be sent.

Physics I: 

Large and small paper clips:  About 50 each of small and large paper clips

Magnets:  A pack of 2 ceramic magnets 3/8” x 7/8 “ x 1 7/8”

‘Strap’:  Thin metal strap about 1 ¼ inch wide by 12 inches long

‘Pearl Pendulum’:  90 degree metal bracket with bead glued to one end, another free bead on a thread through the glued bead, small magnet holding thread

Graduated cylinder:  A 250 ml graduated cylinder

Plastic tubing:  Two short pieces of ¼” outer diameter tubing, two short pieces of 3/16” outer diameter tubing closed on one end, two pieces of open 1/8” outer diameter tubing

Plywood rectangle:  A piece of thin plywood about 10" x 12"

Foam rectangle: A piece of blue foam insulation about 10" x 10"

Knife:  A utility knife.

Die:  A single die (half of a pair of dice) with a hole drilled in the center of one side

Large glass marble

Small glass marble

Large steel ball about 25 cm diameter

Medium-sized steel ball about 19 cm diameter

Small steel ball about 12 cm diameter

8 nuts and bolts, bolts 1/4" diameter

About 20 thin rubber bands

Physics II

Flashlight lamps:  1 each of 6.3 volt 150 milliamp, 6.3 volt 250 milliamp and 14 volt 200 milliamp screw-in bulbs, and 3 screw-in bases to hold the bulbs

Battery holder:  A black plastic holder for 4 AA or 4 AAA batteries

Magnet wire:  A spool of thin wire

Magnets:  A pack of 2 ceramic magnets 3/8” x 7/8 “ x 1 7/8”

Knife:  A utility knife.

Die:  A single die (half of a pair of dice) with a hole drilled in the center of one side

Clay stick:  A stick of non-drying clay, probably inserted in the hollow core of the wire spool

Lenses/mirrors:  Three lenses and one mirror

Uninsulated wire segment:  A segment of bare wire about 9 inches long

Aluminum strips:  Several strips cut from aluminum foil

Candles:  Two 'tea lights'

Copier grating:  A piece of transparency with various configurations of lines, in various sizes

Diffraction grating:  A piece of apparently clear plastic, an inch or two on a side, stapled inside a sheet of paper.  Don't handle this plastic except by touching the sides.  Don't touch the surface.

Plastic tubing:  Various pieces of plastic tubing, including a piece about 6 ft long, shorter pieces about 10" long, 10 cm long, 6 cm, 4 cm and 2 cm long, all of 3/16" outer diameter; a number of pieces of 1/4" outer diameter tubing (the 3/16" outer diameter tubing will fit tightly into the 1/4" outer diameter tubing), at least 3 pieces of the thinner tubing with one end sealed by hot glue.
