Dean of Workforce Training and Continuing Education


The Dean of Workforce Training and Continuing Education is responsible to the President. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  1. Providing leadership in the development of Workforce Training and Continuing Education, including workforce preparation, employee recruitment, and coordination of credit and non-credit continuing education/training programs.
     
  2. Participating in the development of policies and programs for the entire College as a member of the President’s administrative staff.
     
  3. Providing leadership and supervision for the instructional and training programs of the Workforce Training and Continuing Education, including the activities of the Continuing Education Program and the Small Business Development Center.
     
  4. Providing leadership across the workforce development and continuing education areas for the College's institutional effectiveness processes including, but not limited to, the following: strategic planning, division/departmental annual planning and evaluation cycle, program review, and student outcomes assessment.
     
  5. Preparing and administering the Workforce Training and Continuing Education budget.
     
  6. Recruiting faculty for the training component of the Workforce Training and Continuing Education.
     
  7. Revising and developing curricula and courses for the Workforce Training and Continuing Education.
     
  8. Representing the Workforce Training and Continuing Education at various meetings and seminars which promote economic development in the VHCC service area and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
     
  9. Meeting with business and industry leaders within VHCC service area to develop special training activities for employees, including pre-employment training and retraining.
     
  10. Representing Workforce Training and Continuing Education and the College in planning, coordinating and administering regional initiatives in collaboration with agencies such as the Manufacturing Technology Center, Job Placement, Work Force Assessment, Procurement Assistance Center, Adult Education and the Virginia Economic Bridge Initiative.
     
  11. Representing the President of VHCC at meetings, seminars, etc. in those areas which concern business and industry and the economic development of the area served.
     
  12. Fulfilling all other functions as may be designated by the President.
