Human Resources Committee

Purpose(s): The Human Resources Committee’s primary charge is to review and advise the President of the College, the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services, the Vice President of Financial and Administrative Services, and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, respectively on matters concerning faculty evaluation policies and procedures, professional growth and development, equal opportunity employment, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Specific charges include the following:

The Human Resources Committee is charged with the responsibility of conducting annual reviews of the College’s policies and procedures for the evaluation of college personnel holding faculty rank and of advising the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services and the President of the College on matters related to faculty evaluation.

The Human Resources Committee also is charged with the responsibility of offering recommendations to the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services concerning the College’s program of professional growth and development.  The Committee is responsible for assisting in planning pre-service and in-service activities.

The Human Resources Committee also is charged with the responsibility of advising the President of the College on matters relevant to Equal Opportunity Employment issues at the College as well as developing and assisting in the implementation of a total affirmative action component appropriate to the College and its service area. The Committee is responsible for ensuring an appropriate evaluation mechanism for the College’s total affirmative action component. The Committee as related to employees also is responsible for overseeing the College’s substance abuse policies as related to employees.

This Committee is further charged with the responsibility of advising the President of the College on matters relevant to the development and implementation of the College’s program for assuring access to the physically disabled.

Membership: The Human Resources Committee shall be composed of the following:

The Committee selects a chairman from its membership. The Vice President of Instruction and Student Services shall be the permanent secretary of the Committee and shall be ineligible for the Committee chairmanship.

Meeting Schedule: In order to get this Committee organized each year, the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services shall call its initial meeting as soon as possible after membership has been determined. Subsequent meetings shall be called by the chairman. Normally this Committee will meet the first Tuesday of each month unless there are no agenda items.
