A steel ball rolls down a ramp and collides with a marble, as in the video.  The marble is slightly smaller and quite a bit less massive than the ball.

If they both experience the same force, which will have the greater acceleration?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

The smaller ball will have a greater acceleration. We know this by using F=m/a, if the force is the same for each object and the masses are 2 kg and 4 kg and the force is 28 N. We can solve: 28 N/2 kg=14 m/s^2 and 28 N/4 kg=7 m/s^2

If the forces were exerted during identical time intervals, which would have the greater change in velocity?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

If we solve for dv for each of the objects:

dv=14 m/s^2*5 s=70 m/s

dv=7 m/s^2*5 s=35 m/s

The smaller ball has a greater change in velocity
