A steel ball rolls down a ramp and collides with a marble, as in the video. The marble is slightly smaller and quite a bit less massive than the ball.

• If they both experience the same force, which will have the greater acceleration?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

They will have the same acceleration. Weight should not matter if they roll at the same time they will have the same acceleration

• If the forces were exerted during identical time intervals, which would have the greater change in velocity?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

Should not matter; the velocities should be the same

I know if you drop two things (even with different masses)they will hit the ground at the same time.

Is this the same for rolling objects?

because I applied this concept to this problem

@& Consider:

If a bug collides with the windshield of a moving car, which experiences the greater change in velocity, the bug or th car?

It should be clear that in a collision of two objects, it is very much possible for one to change velocity more than the other.

Both object do experiences forces of the same magnitude (the forces experienced by the two objects are equal and opposite). But the objects typically have different masses.*@
