course Mth 174

I went to the Vhcc bookstore to pickup my book and the CD's for the course. The book that the website says we are supposed to use for Mth174, Distance learning is the following: MTH 173-4: Calculus Single Variable, 4th edition by Hughes-Hallet etc. 3d edition can also be supported; email instructor for details.

The correct book should be in, and should be listed. I'll have to check with the bookstore tomorrow.

The book you reference below is not the correct book for this course.

I'll advise you tomorrow when I find out what the situation is. And of course, we'll modify the schedule of assignments to accomodate the situation.

In the meantime, where and when did you complete the first semester of calculus? Do you remember which textbook you used, and did your first-semester course include an introduction to integration?

I'll note that there might also be a problem with mis-packaged CDs, though I think that's confined to the Mth 173 course. Did you get the CDs or DVDs? If so, can you give me a list of what you got? If the contents don't match what was listed at Sup Study ..., be sure to tell me and include your address so I can quickly get you anything that's missing.

She gave me a book entitled ""Calculus of a Single Variable Early Transcendental Functions 3rd edition."" by Larson, Hostetler, and Edwards. She said that was the right one but this was NOT what was listed on the site. Furthermore, after looking up the assignment for the week, the first section chapter 6 is entitled ""applications of integration"" and begins with section 6.1 on the area of a region between two curves. This is WAY over my head at this point and also on the Calculus 2 website, the class notes begin with antiderrivatives. Did the lady give me a completely WRONG book? I guess i can't really start on the work until i find out. Thank you very much for any help that you can provide me with! Thanks again,
