Submitting homework assignments late

Professor Smith,
I may not be able to finish my week 12 assignments by 10 Apr 2011. I was wondering if I could get an extension to have it completed by 12 Apr 11 or sooner, even though my goal is to finish before midnight 10 Apr 11. There is so much going on at my job. My agency is in panic-mode about the government shut-down. It has everyone else in panic-mode as well.
@& You can certainly have a couple of extra days if you need them.
I certainly hope the shutdown can be averted.*@
