I see that we are supposed to do these PHeT assignements, but I am unsure exactly of what to do. When I click on the links, it just opens a zipped file. I'm uncertain of what to do from there.

I can't get the program to behave in the way you describe.
Can you give me more details? What browser are you using, what program did you click on, etc.. If I know step-by-step what you are doing I might be able to see what's happening, or to suggest alternatives.
