While i was attempting to do this lab, i realized that i did not know how to calculate how many degrees the domino rotated before it came to rest. I must know how to do this to complete the lab, and I do not. I looked in the text book and class lectures and could not figure it out. Could you please explain this to me so that i could finish the lab? Thank you for your time!
You don't calculate this, you simply estimate it. You should be able to estimate the rotation of the dominoes within +- 10 degrees. Subdivide a right angle into 3 approximately equal angles, then subdivide each of these into 3 approximately equal angles, and you have a pretty good measure of the angles 10, 20, 30, ..., 90 degrees.
If not you can simply use a piece of paper placed right next to the dominoes after they come to rest. Mark the orientation of the dominoes (just put a straightedge along the side of the domino block and extend it to the paper) and the direction of motion (aim the straightedge back toward the point where the dominoes were released), and use a protractor.
