Thermometer in Lab Kit

** **

When I opened my newly-arrived lab kit today, I found that the upper end of the thermometer has been broken off. It is far above the highest marked point on the thermometer, so reading it is not a concern, but I'm not sure whether any of the liquid (alcohol?) escaped during shipment, which would impact its accuracy. The thermometer appears to be consistent with the thermostat in the room, so I think it is still accurate, but is it even possible for the liquid to escape this way? It seems stable even when I turn the thermometer nearly upside-down.

Thank you in advance.

If there was any leakage the themometer would not give readings consistent with those in the room, so I believe you're OK.

I'm glad the package got to you so promptly, after the bookstore's error.
