PHET EstimationUpon downloading and running the PHET Estimation exercise, I was presented with a yellow screen with two options,
Level 1 Results: Score 90, 218 Seconds, .41 score/time, .87 accuracy, 38/62 Over/Under, 21 Estimates
Level 2 Results: Score 125, 203 Seconds, .6 score/time, .78 accuracy, 108/-8 Over/Under, 24 Estimates
Level 3 Results: Score 100, 215 Seconds, .46 score/time, .58 accuracy, 158/-58 Over/Under, 24 Estimates
As apparent by the progressively lower accuracy, the levels get progressively harder. I assume this is because we are faced with more dimensions to estimate in, and inaccuracy in a particular dimension compounds itself when squaring for 2D or cubing for 3D. Also, it is evident that as things got harder, I severely underestimated the ratios. "

This is pretty much the case with everyone.
It might be a good idea to ask yourself, if the smaller objects were marbles (or small cubes, or whatever) and the larger was made of the same material, how many of the smaller would you need to put into a bag to balance the weight of the larger.
