in problem #1 think i know how to get the the distance that the horse traveled with the two intervals. But I don't understand how to get the average rate that the velocity changes. The three velocities are 10.5m/s, 10m/s, and 3.25m/s. Can you show me how to get the average rate that the velocity changes?

The first change in velocity is from 10.5 m/s to 10 m/s. This is a change of -.5 m/s. How long does it take this change to occur--i.e., what is `dt for this change? What therefore is the average rate of change of velocity with respect to clock time, i.e., `dv / `dt?

That takes care of the first interval.

If this is clear you should see what to do with the second interval.

Let me know if not.
