If the velocity of the object changes from 4 cm / sec to 16 cm / sec in 8 seconds, then at what average rate is the velocity changing?ave rate = change in position / change in clock time

16-4= 12 cm 12cm/8s=1.5cm/s

A ball rolling from rest down a constant incline requires 8.2 seconds to roll the 97 centimeter length of the incline.

• What is its average velocity?

97cm / 8.2 s = 11.83 cm/s

An object which accelerates uniformly from rest will attain a final velocity which is double its average velocity.

• What therefore is the final velocity of this ball?

&# .83 cm/s * 2 = 23.66 cm/s

• What average rate is the velocity of the ball therefore changing?

&#.66 cm/s / 8.2s = 2.89 cm/s * 1s = 2.89 cm/s^2

An automobile accelerates uniformly down a constant incline, starting from rest. It requires 10 seconds to cover a distance of 132 meters.

At what average rate is the velocity of the automobile therefore changing?

132m /10s=13.2 m/s

&#&# 132.2m/s*1s=132.2m/s^2

This part is not the average rate at which the velocity of the automobile changes. It's the average rate of change of position, not velocity. This still needs to be revised.

The revisions you did above are very good.

your work on the last problem still needs to be revised. Your other revisions are good. Your reasoning on the last problem should follow the pattern of reasoning used to solve the preceding problem. Look carefully at that reasoning; I expect you'll get the idea pretty quickly. If not, please ask questions and I'll be glad to help.
