Is the tape speeding up or slowing down? The tape is speeding up
Is the pendulum speeding up or slowing down? The pendulum is speeding up
Which speeds up faster, the tape or the pendulum? The tape
What is going to limit your ability to precisely measure the positions of these objects? For one the numbers on the ruler are not clear so we can not use this for precise measuring. The measurement of time is limited because the movement of tape and the pendulum does not start with the counter on the counter.
Which object did you choose and what were the three positions and the three clock times? I choose the Pendulum and choose to review video 4. I took a more organized approach to the question and tried to get as close to the same interval of distance between all three positions of the pendulum as possible. The following is the results for the three positions…Position 1- 6 inches Time 1 20.34 Seconds, Position 2- 1 foot Time 20.78 Seconds, Position 3- 18 inches Time 21.29 seconds. I was surprised to see that the time intervals were very similar.
If you did take observations of positions and clock times, how accurately do you think you could determine the positions, and how accurately do you think you would know the clock times? We can not get an extremely accurate measurement of the items in the video because of the size of the pendulum I feel that it sometimes blocks the measurement device and we have to guess between two positions. Because of this I think we will have a problem determining an accurate time measurement, if we can take a measurement at the beginning and at the end we may be able to take an average of distance/time.
How can you use observations to determine whether the tape rolling along an incline is speeding up or slowing down? Well by watching the video we see that the about halfway down the incline the tape passes the pendulum and goes on to reach the bottom quickest.
How can you use your observations to determine whether the swinging pendulum is speeding up or slowing down? By my observation of position and time intervals I feel that the pendulum travels at the same speed until it resides back to the top of the incline.
I feel that the accuracy of the time is within .7 of a second.
I feel that the accuracy of the distance is within 2 inches
