random quiz 1

course Math 163

I wasn't exactly sure about the quiz. I read over the testing procedures again to see what to do about quizzes. I understand it to be that we choose one at random, solve, then submit it through the submit work form. Is this correct? If so, here is the one I worked. If not, I will go to the testing center and do another one.

Find the vertex and the zeros of y = .02 t2 + -2 t + 79.The Vertex is when x = -b / (2a)

a = .02

b = -2

c = 79

x = -b / (2a) = -(-2) / (2 * .02) = 50

x = 50

Substituting 50 for t you get

.02 (50)^2 – 2(50) + 79 = 29

Vertex is at the point (50, 29)

The zeros occur when y = f(0)

f(0) = .02 (0)^2 – 2(0) + 79 = 79

When x = 0, y = 79
