How To get Started

I understand that the dates and deadlines are flexible like it was stated in the initial activities. What I am confused about are the materials. Do I need to get the book and the DVD's or just one or the other? I'm also confused about how I communicate and how to Complete everything needed for the course. Is it just the homework and the test? I am sorry for the misunderstanding, this is just a really confusing course and program of how to do it.
