A ball starts with velocity 4 cm/sec and ends with a velocity of 10 cm/sec.

* What is your best guess about the ball's average velocity?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> on:

I would guess that the ball's average velocity would be 7cm/sec. I get this solution be finding the average between 4 and 10. (4 + 10)/2 = 7.

* Without further information, why is this just a guess?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> on:

Because I believe I would need the respective times that the velocities were taken so I could take the differences of both the displacements and times.

* If it takes 3 seconds to get from the first velocity to the second, then what is your best guess about how far it traveled during that time?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> on:

My best guess would be 21cm. I get this by going back to the average velocity of 7cm/sec I calculated before. Using that I just multiply 7cm/sec by the 3 seconds it takes the object to pass between the two points.

* At what average rate did its velocity change with respect to clock time during this interval?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> on:

It appears that the object changed at an average rate of 2cm/second during that 3 second time interval. I get this by subtracting the 10cm/sec by the 4 cm/sec to get 6cm/sec. From there, I divide by the time interval between those two velocities (3 seconds) to get 2cm/sec.

Good, except for that units error. Check the link; no revision is necessary.
