Assignment 6Ch. 14 Problems 61, 62, 67, 72
61.
A. Calculate the additional distance the buoy will sink when a 70.kg mass stands on top.
I am not sure how to even start this problem. I have a few ideas but it doesn’t show me the height so I got confused.
62.
What is the density of the material composing the life preserver?
Vfluid/Vobj.= pobj/pfluid
(0.08/0.0400)=(x/0.980)
0.0784=0.0400x
X=o.oo314 and density will equal 3.14
67.
A. Prove the Crown’s relative density (specific gravity) is 1/(1-f)
-T=fw Tension and buoyant force are equal and opposite to force of gravity
T+dqxV=w or f x dg x vol + dw x vol = dg x vol
Next divide through by the vol : f x dg + dw = dg
Solve for dg we will then get: dg = dw/(1-f)
Getting: 1/(1-f)
B. What is the solid golds apparent weight when immersed in water?
1/(1-f)= 19.3
We will then solve for f
18.3/19.3
T=fw
(18.3/19.3)(12.9
=12.2N
C.
12.2N
72.
A.
It will float.
B. What fraction will be above water?
I am not sure what equation to use here.

Please insert a few more lines to clarify what all the given quantities mean in terms of the situation, and their units. Also be sure the goal of every problem is either obvious from your work, or is clearly stated. If you don't understand how to solve a problem, at least discuss what you do and do not understand about the problem and the given information.
