I don't post personal information at this page, so I haven't included your introduction in this posted document. I save all introductions for later reference and read over them frequently in the early part of the course.

Hopefully you'll find this course more congenial than most math courses.

You don't have to answer this, but you mentioned that you enjoy fantasy novels. Some of the guys at the gym and I are comparing 'Star Trek' with 'Star Wars' (neither really involving novels), and the question has come up to what degree we would classify 'Star Wars' as science fiction vs. fantasy. If you'd like to weigh in on the question, feel free.
