The problem:

A ball is moving at 10 cm/s when clock time is 4 seconds, and at 40 cm/s when clock time is 9 seconds.

• Sketch a v vs. t graph and represent these two events by the points (4 sec, 10 cm/s) and (9 s, 40 cm/s).

• Sketch a straight line segment between these points.

• What are the rise, run and slope of this segment?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> (start in the next line):

-The rise of this graph is 30 because 40-10=30.

-The run of this graph is 5 because 9-4=5.

-The slope of this graph is 6 because 30/5=6.

These quantitites have units, which give them meaning. You need to include units.

Otherwise very good.

• What is the area of the graph beneath this segment?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> (start in the next line):

-The area of the right triangle that the segment forms is 75 because A=(1/2)lw=(1/2)*3*50=75.

The region beneath the segment is not a triangle, it is a trapezoid.
