A steel ball rolls down a ramp and collides with a marble, as in the video. The marble is slightly smaller and quite a bit less massive than the ball.

• If they both experience the same force, which will have the greater acceleration?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

Since the marble is smaller than the steel ball, it must have a smaller mass. With a smaller mass, to achieve the same force as the steel ball, the marble must have higher acceleration.

The density of the materials also affects the mass. A glass marble the size of the steel ball might well be outweighed by a steel ball whose diameter is that of the marble.

• If the forces were exerted during identical time intervals, which would have the greater change in velocity?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

The marble should have a greater change in velocity since it has a higher acceleration.

Very good. Do check my note, but your reasoning relevant to this question is right on.
