When i move the slider for A, it really seems to affect the parabola itself. It makes the parabola steeper and less steep as well as wider and closer together. B really seems to affect the slope of the parabola. The larger the number seems to yield the steeper the slope. C just moves the parabola up and down the Y-axis.When B is increased it moves to the left of the y-axis as well as moves down the the x-axis.

I believe there is a way to figure out in advance how much to change the B and C parameters.

Right. The vertex of the parabola occurs when x = - b / (2 a). The vertex can also be moved up and down, as you have seen, by manipulating C.
