ball down ramp

Your 'ball down ramp' report has been received. Scroll down through the document to see any comments I might have inserted, and my final comment at the end.

** Your general comment **

** Will a steeper ramp give greater or lesser time? **

The steepest slope will take the ball the least amount of time to roll down.

** As slopes increases will time intervals increase, decrease or show no pattern? **

The time intervcals will be decreasing.

** Your report of 5 trials each way for 1 domino **

These are the time intervals of a ball rolling from 3 cm at the top of a ramp with one domino underneath the end to the bottom. The first five are some the right hand side of the board, and in the second 5 the system was reversed.

** Your report of 5 trials each way for 2 dominoes **

I was thinking about how the trials should eb relatively consistent but timing errors and the slope of the board cause discrepancies.

** Do your results support or fail to support your hypothesis about increasing or decreasing times? **

These results support my hypothesis stated in the first two questions becuase the ball rolled down the slope in less time when the slope became greater.

** How do you think ave velocity is related to slope? **

The velocity has a positive relationship with the slope of the ramp becuase as the slope increased so did the velocity of the ball.

** Speculate on why ave velocity changes with slope. **

The greater the slope the greater the effect of gravity on the ball.

** How could you test your speculations? **

Use calculations to determine how much effect gravity has on the ball with the degree of slope for each domino added.
