ball down ramp

Your 'ball down ramp' report has been received. Scroll down through the document to see any comments I might have inserted, and my final comment at the end.

** Your general comment **

** Will a steeper ramp give greater or lesser time? **

The steeper ramp will require less time to travel the same distance.

** As slopes increases will time intervals increase, decrease or show no pattern? **

I feel like the time intervals would be decreasing in a clear pattern.

** Your report of 5 trials each way for 1 domino **

The first five numbers are with the domino under the right side of the ramp, the second set of five numbers are with the domino under the right side of the ramp.

I was thinking that the first and second trial might be different because the slope could potentially be different because i might not be able to duplicate the same slope again on the second trial.

I placed two dominos under the right side of the ramp and took the time of the first five trials, i then reversed the ramp with two dominos under the left side of the ramp and repeated the same five trials which are the last five numbers in the chart.

** Do your results support or fail to support your hypothesis about increasing or decreasing times? **

My results support my hypothese that as the slope increases, the time interval decreases because it took longer to roll the same didtance with a more shallow slope.

** How do you think ave velocity is related to slope? **

I think the average velocity is directly related to the slope of the ramp because with shallow slope (only one domino) the times were around 1.5 seconds. With three dominos under the end of the ramp the time interval was around .8 seconds, and the only difference was the slope.

** Speculate on why ave velocity changes with slope. **

As the slope increases, the gravity takes more of a toll on the ball on the ramp. On a more shallow slope, the gravity is not as much of a factor because it moving in from side to side more than it is up and down.

** How could you test your speculations? **

I would google it and look in the textbook. I feel like my explanations are valid because my experiments verified my hypotheses and they make sense to me.
