A ball is moving at 10 cm/s when clock time is 4 seconds, and at 40 cm/s when clock time is 9 seconds.

• Sketch a v vs. t graph and represent these two events by the points (4 sec, 10 cm/s) and (9 s, 40 cm/s).

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

I have done this on graph paper in my notebook.

• Sketch a straight line segment between these points.

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

I have done this on graph paper in my notebook.

• What are the rise, run and slope of this segment?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

The rise is 1 and the run is 6. Therefore the slope is 1/6.

• What is the area of the graph beneath this segment?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

The way I have my graph drawn on graph paper, there are one inch squares, so I am going to use square inches as my unit.

Triangle, base times height(.5)= 6x5x(.5)=15in squared

Rectangle, length times width=6(4)=24 in squared

15+24=39in squared

(I think that is what you are asking for!!!)
