Assignment One

I've posted a response to this assignment, and emailed you about the difficulties you are experiencing.

The distance format might be problematic for you but the biggest problem is that your command of first-semester topics needs to improve.

In brief, I think you need a good solid week's review of first-semester calculus. Everything in this chapter is standard first-semester work. Be sure you have carefully read my suggestions and strongly consider following them.

I also note that you haven't completed the exercises in Orientation Part 8, which are designed to help me understand your style of work and to help you get comfortable with the process.

If you state your questions clearly using the Submit Work form, I will answer them. To state a question, tell me specifically what you are asking about (e.g., include an outline summary of the problem including the given quantities, or a specific description of a graph or picture if there is a graph or picture involved) and as many specifics as possible about what you do and do not understand about it.

This of course takes time, but in th eprocess you learn more per minute than you can from almost any other activity. The process forces you to clarify you understanding of the situation, gives you more insight into the subject, and often leads you to discover the answer on your own.

It also defines for me the specific difficulty you are having so I can help you address it as specifically and directly as possible.
