A ball accelerates at 8 cm/s^2 for 3 seconds, starting with velocity 12 cm/s.

• What will be its velocity after the 3 seconds has elapsed?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

36 cm/s will be the velocity. I found this by plugging in the values accordingly into the kinematic equation vf = 12 + 8t.

• Assuming that acceleration is constant, what will be its average velocity during this interval?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

If the acceleration is constant, the average velocity during the time interval will amount to 24 cm/s. I found this by taking the initial velocity which was 12 cm/s and finding the average of it with another velocity that was found, 36 cm/s. Therefore 48 cm/s / 2 = 24 cm/s.

• How far will it travel during this interval?

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :

During this time interval, it will travel 72 cm. I found this by taking the average velocity, 24 cm/s and multiplying it by the time which was 3 seconds. As a result, 24*3 is 72 centimeters.
