1)There are three columns with the first shows the number of times you clock, the second column shows the running second, the third column possibly shows how fast the person clicked the “time event” button.

3)In order to find the average interval, first we must add the third column numbers together and divide it by the number of intervals which is 20.

Putting it in the calculator, we get 0.13144533 as an average interval of the data in the previous problem.

@&

There are only two intervals less than .132 second, and they aren't much less.

I suspect that you added up 19 intervals (note that there are only 19 intervals between the 20 clock times) and divided by 20.

Note also that had you subtracted the first clock time from the last you would have gotten the total without having to add.

4).15625, 4

.1523438, 3

.1484375, 2

.1445313, 2

The rest occurred only one time.

@&

You would want to list all the intervals, including those that occurred only once. Without that information you haven't represented the entire frequency distribution.

If the entire frequency distribution is represented, it would be easy to use the distribution to calculate the mean (and, later, the standard deviation).************

5)The reason for the timer reporting the time of .1875 so frequently is that if the interval was not rounded to the 4 significant digits and allowed more decimal places, then the timer would have shown different intervals as opposed to frequent .1875.

6)As demonstrated by the difference in the intervals, sometimes it takes a longer time for our muscles to click the mouse and sometimes less and so that is why we have positive and negative differences. The timer seems to be estimating the differences, for example in the case of the difference between 0.1875 and 0.171875, the difference is -0.015625.

8)This is because in the fact clicks there was constant clicking in an almost rhythm, but in breathing, the intervals of breathing cannot be tracked and there is less chance that you will breath within same interval.

9)D. due to the data gained throughout the experiments.

@&

One reason you need to submit the entire document on an experiment is so that I have all the information. In this case I know what the question is and what the choices A - D are, but I don't have everything memorized and without the original document there will be times I would not know what the document tells you or asks you.

You should by now have the emailed documents I was unable to send you yesterday (couldn't access the server) demonstrating the proper format. Again, no problem on this document, but as you can see from my above note problems could begin occurring very soon.

@&

Your answer was D, which would indicate a resolution of .0001 second.

A resolution of .0001 second would imply about 5000 possible time intervals between .13 sec and .18 sec. With 5000 possible intervals, what would be the chances that one of them would repeat 4 times (with multiple repetitions of three other intervals as well)?

How does this modify your answer to the present question?

You may respond to these questions by simply copying this note, appending your answer (and/or additional questions should you have them) and submitting it with the Submit Work Form.

Good, but there are some followup questions to be answered. Check my notes.
