A typical automobile coasts up a typically paved incline, stops, and coasts back down to the same position.

• When it reaches this position, is it moving faster, slower or at the same speed as when it began? Explain

answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> : It will be moving slower. Friction from the pavement will cause the automobile to lose some energy. In addition thermal energy will be realeased. Because of this, KE will be less when the automobile returns, causing a decreased velocity since mass should remain constant.
