Responses I think I have completed the Preliminary Assignment I have not recieved any notes related to the need for a self-critique of work. Week 01: Week of 01/16/06 - 01/22/06. Assignments 0, 1 and associated class notes Assignment 1 See also Class Notes #01-#03 (Distance students: See Calculus video clips on GEN1 CD. Run CD by clicking on the program labeled Disk_1). Complete q_a_cal1_1_13.exe assignment #1 (under Supervised Study (Mth 299), Course Documents, Downloads, Applied Calculus I) and submit corresponding SEND file from c:\vhmthphy (the name of this SEND file will include the 4-digit date as well as your name as you entered it in the program). Complete DERIVE worksheet (DERIVE is available in the Learning Lab and the Math/Science Lab). DERIVE is available at VHCC in the Learning Lab. A 30-day trial copy can also be downloaded (search DERIVE on the Web; an address, current as of 9/2/03, for the download is http://www-d.connect.ti.com/eps/epsweb1.nsf/Download?OpenForm&Derive~FLASH The download is reasonably small and the instructions are not difficult. ). Note that the course does not require DERIVE after this initial exercise, but that references to DERIVE syntax will be made from time to time in the course, and you are encouraged to use DERIVE during the 30-day trial period. The instructor neither recommends nor discourages purchase of DERIVE, but you should evaluate alternatives such as student versions of MATLAB and MATHEMATICA before purchasing any computer algebra system, and might want to wait until you encounter a course that does require one of these packages. Read Chapter 0, Section 1 on the Real Line and Order. Do problems 1-10, 22, 26, 28, 30, 31, 32. When you have completed the entire assignment run the Query program and submit the SEND file using the Submit Work form.

I completed the DERIVE worksheet on campus.

I cannot figure out how to work the cd's. I bought the DVD's and Im not sure how to work them? Are there directions? Also, there is no sound on them. Complete q_a_cal1_1_13.exe assignment #1 (under Supervised Study (Mth 299), Course Documents, Downloads, Applied Calculus I) and submit corresponding SEND file from c:\vhmthphy (the name of this SEND file will include the 4-digit date as well as your name as you entered it in the program). q_a_cal1_1_13.exe Read Chapter 0, Section 1 on the Real Line and Order. Do problems 1-10, 22, 26, 28, 30, 31, 32.

I've done the first two assignments but Im confused about the part when it says to run the query program. How do I do this?? Is the query program the same as the q_a problems?

The Query program is downloaded from the same page as the q_a_ program, but is a different program. It works very similarly to the q_a_ but creates a SEND file that does not contain your name in the filename. It is designed to be used after you have completed an assignment.

The query assigments must be submitted. The handwritten homework can be submitted throught email if there is questions. ok keep notes when doing q_a assignments

Please let me know if you have any questions related to this orientation assignment.
