If P = (-2.901, -3.701) and Q = ( 6.1, y) find all numbers y such that the vector with initial point P and terminal point Q has magnitude 79.6224 . I do not understand how exactly to work this problem or what it is asking..I know when you are trying to solve for the magnitude it is the distance from the origin to the point (x, y) or z= sqrt of x^2 + y^2..I do not know what I am supposed to do or how to do this problem.
@& A vector with initial point P and terminal point Q has x component 6.1 - (-2.9) = 9 and y component y - (-3.7) = y + 3.7.
You can use the Pythagorean Theorem to write down the expression for the magnitude of this vector. Then set the expression equal to 79.6 and solve for y.*@
