A steel ball rolls down a ramp and collides with a marble, as in the video. The marble is slightly smaller and quite a bit less massive than the ball.

The smaller ball will have the greater acceleration. Since it has less mass, it has to have more acceleration to get the same force.

• If the forces were exerted during identical time intervals, which would have the greater change in velocity?

The marble would have the greater change in velocity because the acceleration is greater. In the same time period, there would be more acceleration, causing the velocity to change more.
