- Regarding the square root of a negative number, there is theoretically no such thing. However with the use of imaginary numbers (or complex numbers, for what it’s worth) one can find the square root of a negative number. x^ 2 = -9, x may be 3i or -3i.

- Regarding the square of a negative number, whenever you multiply two negative numbers, one gets a positive, not a negative number.
