To get the area of the deck I have to add the radius of the pool which is 10ft and the radius of the deck which is 3 ft to get 13ft. Then I plug it into the area equation.

A = pi r ^ 2

A = pi 13ft ^ 2

A = pi 169 ft ^ 2

Then you get the area of just the pool.

A = pi r ^ 2

A = pi 10ft ^ 2

A = pi 100 ft ^ 2

Then you subtract the area of the deck and pool by the area of the pool to get the area of the deck.

169 pi ft ^ 2 - 100 pi ft ^ 2 = 69 pi ft ^ 2
