Mr. Smith,
This is not a course related question. I simply wanted to ask your permission to include you as a reference on a resume. In the near future I plan to apply to CGI Federal in Lebanon, VA for a job as a computer programmer and despite often doing poorly in your courses, I thought you might be able to drum up one or two good things to say about me in case they tried to contact you.
If you could do this I would be greatly appreciated. If you'd rather not, I understand and no hard feelings.
