Question Number 5 on Intro Qa1

** **

Question: `q005. If there are 30 blue marbles and 35 small marbles in a box containing 50 marbles. What is the smallest possible number of small blue marbles? Is it possible that the number of small blue marbles is greater than this?

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Your solution:

The smallest possible number of small blue marbles is 30. If there are only 30 blue marbles, there cannot be more than 30 small blue marbles.

If there were 30 small blue marbles, there would be only 5 more small marbles. So there would be only 35 marbles in the box.

There are 50.

So there can't be 30 small blue marbles.

I don't really understand this question and what the correct answer would be. I've went over this one and have tried to figure it out but I am at a dead end. Could you please explain this problem to me a little more? Thanks so much!

Sketch a Venn diagram. There are two circles, one containing 30 objects and the other containing 35. There are only 50 objects in the two circles combined. How many object therefore have to be in the intersection of the two circles?
