question

course Mth 164

I just read your comments on my asst #4. Did I understand you correctly to say that I don't have to submit the entire assignment ? I just want to be sure. Also, I know I still need to submit the query for asst 4. I started it at school the other day but wasn't able to finish so I need to retype the whole thing and hopefully will get that done today. I wish I could send you all the sheets of paper I have used working on some of these trig identity problems ! I should get caught up since we are getting quite a bit of snow and school will likely be closed for a few days.

You've done a great job of it, but you were never asked to submit all the problems. The assignments said to do the qa, work the text problems and submit the query. Nothing at all about typing in all those problems. As I say, you did a great job of it and it wasn't totally a wasted effort on your part, but it's clear that you knew perfectly well how to work these problems. The qa and the query are designed to keep the typing load at least halfway reasonable.

I don't advertise the following at the beginning of the course becuase most students would then try to shortcut the course and end up failing. However you are clearly a well-prepared, mature and diligent student and can make your own decisions:

All you are really required to do is take the tests.

In order to prepare to do well on the tests, almost everyone needs to work the text assignments.

To understand the text well enough to do the assigned problems, and to make it easier to understand what the text is getting at, most students benefit from the qa.

There is no grade penalty for not submitting the qa and/or query. There is a modest reward for doing so, which if you make a good effort can amount to as much as 10-15% of your grade, per the Course of Study for your course.

Use the available materials in whatever way sufficiently prepares you for the tests.

Do take a look at the 'open' qa's. The figures are now inserted into those documents, and I sort of like the way they look.
