ball down ramp

Your 'ball down ramp' report has been received. Scroll down through the document to see any comments I might have inserted, and my final comment at the end.

** Your general comment **

** Will a steeper ramp give greater or lesser time? **

I believe that the roll down the steepest ramp will be the least.

** As slopes increases will time intervals increase, decrease or show no pattern? **

I believe the time intervals will be decreasing.

The 1st set of numbers were close and the 2nd set of numbers were close. The 2nd set had a difference of about .5 seconds. I am unsure what would cause this, maybe it is an inaccuracy in the ramp.

The 1st set of numbers were close and the 2nd set of numbers were close. The sets of numbers seem to be closer this time.

** Do your results support or fail to support your hypothesis about increasing or decreasing times? **

It supported my belief that the steeper the ramp, the faster the ball moves. The numbers show this, the time intervals decrease with each domino addition.

** How do you think ave velocity is related to slope? **

If you were to graph the time on the x axis and the length on the y axis, and then plot the data points, you will see the slope which is the rise / run or length/time and this gives you the average velocity.

** Speculate on why ave velocity changes with slope. **

The average velocity is changing due to the time intervals becoming less.

** How could you test your speculations? **

I could take one set of the data and graph it and then take another set and graph it. I would find the slopes of each and compare the lines on the graphs and this would support my speculations.
