A ball accelerates at 8 cm/s^2 for 3 seconds, starting with velocity 12 cm/s.

What will be its velocity after the 3 seconds has elapsed?

Answer: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> 36 cm/s

Discussion: I took the 8 m/s^2 and times it by 3 for the 3 seconds the ball was traveling. Then took the initial velocity of 12 cm/sec and added that in too.

Assuming that acceleration is constant, what will be its average velocity during this interval?

Answer: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> 24 cm/s

Discussion: Because it is a constant acceleration I knew it would be a linear increase. From knowing the final velocity and initial velocity I just added them up and divided by 2.

How far will it travel during this interval?

Answer: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> 72 cm

Discussion: I took the average of 24 cm/s and times it by the 3 seconds it traveled for, I stuck with 72 because I am presuming the object traveled in a straight line and didn’t take any turns.
