Explain in your own words the process of fitting a straight line to a graph of y vs. x data, and briefly discuss the nature of the uncertainties encountered in the process. For example, you might address the question of how two different people, given the same graph, might obtain different results for the slope and the vertical intercept.

......!!!!!!!!...................................

RESPONSE -->

Enter, as appropriate, an answer to the question, a critique of your answer in response to a given answer, your insights regarding the situation at this point, notes to yourself, or just an OK.

Always critique your solutions by describing any insights you had or errors you makde, and by explaining how you can make use of the insight or how you now know how to avoid certain errors. Also pose for the instructor any question or questions that you have related to the problem or series of problems.

When you fit a straight line to a graph you usually dont have any of your points lieing directly on the line it is the line that is best in the center of all the points. so they are all an equal distance from the line.. diferent people may make the graph steeper or put it in a different location all together. you would get a different slope and vertical intercept when you do this.

Briefly state what you think velocity is and how you think it is an example of a rate.

......!!!!!!!!...................................

RESPONSE -->

Velocity is used to determine how fast an object is moving and the direction in which it is going.

Given average speed and time interval how do you find distance moved?

......!!!!!!!!...................................

Also pose for the instructor any question or questions that you have related to the problem or series of problems.

you rearrange the equation of average speed = distance traveled/ time elapsed so you just multiply the average speed and the time interval to get the distance traveled.

Given average speed and distance moved how do you find the corresponding time interval?

just rearrange the equation average speed= distance traveled/time elapsed to get average speed * distance traveled to get the time interval.

messed up need to rearrange the equation with time interval = distance traveled / average speed.

just fill in the equation use average speed = distance moved/ time interval.
