I am becoming overwhelmed with this class. It is not the math that is overwhelming. The CD that I was instructed to purchase has only 29 minutes worth of material to assist me. The images are alot of times blurry and the writing is off the camera at times. On the assignment sheet it says to go to the corresponding lesson and that it is numbered the same as the assignments.....I am not seeing this.
I am completely lost as to how to send in an assignment. Please help me to simplfy this. I feel that this should be a very simple task but for the life of me I can't seem to figure it out. There are sooooooooo many directions, it feels overwhelming!!! The objective I am seeking is to learn math skills.
What are my chances of making an A by just taking the tests and skipping the homework?
I am not trying to be disrespectful, but this seems much harder than it needs to be. And it still is very upsetting to me that as a paying customer that I can't meet with you or talk with you. It is 2/25 and I have yet to turn in an assignment even though I am trying to work on my own! Please help me or please suggest a class that I can transfer into that would better suit my needs.
You can ask me as many questions as you like in this format. That's the tradeoff for my not being accessible for face-to-face meetings. It's simply not possible to meet one-on-one with 100 different students, and not fair for students who aren't near campus or whose schedules don't 'jive' with mine to have less access to my time than those who are.
In any case the questions you ask here are good ones.
I note that, except for having skipped two of the assignments in Step 5 (one of which explains how to operate your disks), you did very well up through Step 7 of the Orientation, but you haven't completed Step 8, which would have clarified things much better and gotten you on track much earlier.
You could go ahead and learn the course without my help--most of the course is not all that difficult, though some parts are fairly challenging--but you'll do better if you use the extensive support and assistance that are available to you.
I have two recommendations. You should ideally to #1 first, but if you can't then you could go directly to #2.
1. Complete Step 5 of the Orientation so you'll know how to use the disks and the programs, then do Step 8 of the Orientation so you'll understand how the 'question-answer' format works.
2. Go to the 'assignments' page for your course. You should already have bookmarked it in your Orientation, but just in case you can use the direct link http://vhcc2.vhcc.edu/dsmith/lib1/ .
Your Week 2 assignments reads as follows:
'Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 1 and 2 and submit using the Submit Work Form. Alternatively you may use first open qa and second open qa for this assignment. If you intend to use the 'open query' and/or 'open qa' then you should first review the document Using Queries and Qa's as a Learning Tool.
Assignments 1 and 2: Text sections 2.1 and 2.2. Work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5 (i.e., 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18, ...; all these are multiples of 3 or of 5).
Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form. Alternatively you may use first open query and second open query for this assignment. If you are using the 'open query' and/or 'open qa' then you should periodically review the document Using Queries and Qa's as a Learning Tool.'
The words 'Using Queries and Qa's as a Learning Tool' constitute a link. You should click on that link and read these instructions.
You should then click on the link entitled 'first open qa', and use the document according to the instructions you just read. Use the Submit Work Form to submit a copy of your completed document.
Then go to Section 2.1 of your text, as instructed. Read the section, then work the indicated problems. This should not give you any trouble.
Then open the document 'first open query' and use it according to the instructions you've already read under 'Using Queries and Qa's as a Learning Tool'. Use the Submit Work Form to submit a copy of your completed document.
Having done that you should have a very good picture of what to do and how to ace the course, which is still very much possible, and which I hope will be your final outcome.
