The problem:

A ball is moving at 10 cm/s when clock time is 4 seconds, and at 40 cm/s when clock time is 9 seconds.

• Sketch a v vs. t graph and represent these two events by the points (4 sec, 10 cm/s) and (9 s, 40 cm/s).

answer/question/discussion:

• Sketch a straight line segment between these points.

answer/question/discussion:

• What are the rise, run and slope of this segment?

answer/question/discussion: The rise is 30 cm /s and the run is 5 s.

you didn't mention the slope

• What is the area of the graph beneath this segment?

answer/question/discussion: I do not understand the area concept or how to find it.

average 'graph altitude' is (10 cm/s + 40 cm/s) / 2 = 25 cm/s

width is 5 sec

so area is average 'altitude' * width = 25 cm/s * 5 s = 125 cm.

About 15 minutes.

I do not know how to put a sketch on the word document but i did draw it for myself at home.

You would describe your sketch. A good description is better than a sketch because it reveals what you understand.

In any case I believe you'll understand my notes above. Be sure you understand how these conclusions would follow from asking the questions I specified in earlier assignments.
