This is from the lecture notes for 11/08 and I can't find the mass of the suspended weight in the notes and I wasn't there so I don't have those notes. What was the mass?
I was sure this was at the beginning of the notes. However when I inserted the pictures of the system, I might have accidentally deleted it. In any case I just check and, sure enough, it wasn't there. Here is the info you need:
The suspended mass is about .2 kg.
The force constant for the rubber band chain is about 30 Newtons / cm.
