What are the average acceleration and final velocity of an object which accelerates uniformly from rest, traveling a distance of 69 cm from start to finish and ending up with a velocity of 18.1 cm/sec? The final velocity of the object is 18.1cm/sec, that is given in the problem.
The average velocity is 18.1/2= 9.05cm/sec
The average acceleration is .26cm/sec, i think but I'm not sure..... I divided 18.1cm/sec by 69cm.
cm/sec is not a unit of acceleration, and dividing cm/s by cm does not yield units of cm/sec
This answer just doens't seem right.
Your instincts are correct, which is good.
What is the definition of average velocity?
What is the definition of average acceleration?
How do these definitions apply to the given question?
