The problem:
A ball accelerates at 8 cm/s^2 for 3 seconds, starting with velocity 12 cm/s.
• What will be its velocity after the 3 seconds has elapsed?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
I know that aAve = `dv / `dt. I know the v0 but I need to solve for vf, so;
aAve * `dt = vf - v0
aAve * `dt + v0 = vf
(8cm/s^2 * 3s) + 12cm/s = vf
(24cm/s) + 12cm/s = 36cm/s So the final velocity is equal to 36cm/s.
To check my work, aAve = vAve / `t, so vAve = (36cm/s + 12cm/s) / 2 = 24cm/s, so 8cm/s^2 = 24cm/s / 3s

• Assuming that acceleration is constant, what will be its average velocity during this interval?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
The vAve = (36cm/s + 12cm/s) / 2 = 24cm/s

• How far will it travel during this interval?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
`ds = vAve * `dt, or 24cm/s * 3s + 72cm
