Atmospheric Pressure Revision

You requested that I look at a specific Introductory Problem set. I reviewed it again, and finally think that I grasped the solution. I find the pressure to support the column and the air pressure. P = `rho g h where `rho is the density of the fluid (in this case water), g is the acceleration due to gravity and the h is the height of the fluid. The density of water is 1,000 kg/m^3, the altitude of water in the column was 100 s_cm, and the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. Therefore the pressure is P = `rho g h = 1,000 kg/m^3 * 9.8 m/s^2 * 100 s_m I measured out what I estimate that 100 s_cm is in cm to say it is right around 65 cm, which will convert to 0.65 m. Therefore P = 6370 Pa. I hope that is correct. I am not sure what the atmospheric pressure was though. It seems like I saw where it would be 1 Pa, but I may have just imagined seeing that. You are measuring atmospheric pressure. Even if you know it, you assume that you don't.

Tea-Light Candles

In the lab for Assignment 13, it says, Some kits were packed with only one tea-light candle. There should have been two. If you received only one, send the instructor your mailing address. You will need two candles for some of the experiments you will do next week. I looked in my materials package and I did not see any tea-light candles. Do we still need them or has the experiment that they have been used in been changed to view only?
