I would like to make one of the beam scales that we worked with on friday. Would you go through the steps one at a time on the construction of the scale? Firstly where and what materials to purchase.
Thanks
You can build the thing for $10 or so. The one you saw was built from two pieces of 2-foot shelf standard (Berry's has them; ask me and I'll tell you where to look), a piece of brass rod for the hanging cylinder (ask me and I'll give you one), and 5 standard utlility-knife blades (which you can get anywhere).
I used shoe goo as an adhesive, and it works very well; gorilla glue would probably work too, since it's very good on metal, but the metal has to cleaned very well.
