A ball falls freely from rest at a height of 2 meters. Observations indicate that the ball reaches the ground in .64 seconds.
• Based on this information what is its acceleration?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
a = 2 ds / dt2
a= 2(2m)/ (.64 s)^2
a= 4 m/ .41s^2
a= 9.76 m/s^2

• Is this consistent with an observation which concludes that a ball dropped from a height of 5 meters reaches the ground in 1.05 seconds?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
ds= 5m
dt= 1.05
a= 2(5m)/ (1.05s)^2
a= 10 m / 1.103s
a=9.07 s^2
Yes, this is consistent with the information in the previous question.

• Are these observations consistent with the accepted value of the acceleration of gravity, which is 9.8 m / s^2?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
Yes, these observations are consistent with the accepted value of the acceleration of gravity. Each one is close to 9.8 m/s^2. I am not sure how close you have to be to be technically consistent, but I think they are.
