Sketch and completely label a trapezoidal approximation graph for the function y = x 2/ 5 + 1, for x = 0 to 2.7 by increments of .9.x = [0, .9, 1.8, 2.7]
To find the values of y, I plugged the values of x into the given equation:
y = x^2/5 + 1
x = 0
y = 0^2/5 + 1 = 1
x = .9
y = .9^2/5 + 1 = 1.162
x = 1.8
y = 1.8^2/5 + 1 = 1.648
x = 2.7
y = 2.7^2/5 + 1 = 2.458
To sketch the trapezoidal approximation, I plotted the four points: (0, 1), (.9, 1.162), (1.8, 1.648), and (2.7, 2.458). I then drew trapezoids from these lines.
